  • Trout fishing tips that work

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2009 and filed under trout fishing tips | No Comments »

Trout fishing is regarded by an angler as the most exciting and enjoyable fising. So its inevitable that there will is a whole world of trout fishing tips around the world, wheather online or offline. Which tips really work is another question, by far the best way to learn the best tips for trout fishing is to learn from someone who realy knows how to fish for trout. But where do you find him. i don’t know. I can help you by giving you trout fishing tips of my own and tips i have found on the internet that are valuble. This is where you will find what you are looking for.

Numbe one is wash your hands, or should i say get your hands to smell natural, no foreign odours. I can not stress this enough, its very important and will catch you more trout. If you only lisn to one of these trout fishing tips, let it be this one.
The reason is that trout, most fish for that matter have a very sensitive sense of smell so any foreign smell will be placed on your baits, lures, flies and the trout will smell it and be put off from biting. Rub your hands in the dirt then wash them in the water and even rub them in the grass, you are trying to make your hands smell natural and not like something that should not be there. Smoking especially before you bait up will let the trout know that something is up.

Now what about the clothes you wear, you may ask what does clothing have to do with fishing? Actually a lot, fish and especialy trout have fairly good eyesight and will spot you on the bank wearing bright clothes that say, “here fisshy look at me, im here to eat you”. So l should wear my uniform from when i was a sniper in vietnaam for the navy? Not quite, dull clothes are fine, blacks, greys, browns and dark greens are all good. You just dont want to have a neon sign on your chest. What you can also do to be invisible, is to try stay off of high banks where you will be silhoeted on the sky as you walking around. sit next to bushes or in front of them, walk near the water so the bank is behind you if you can. Stay low if you have to so your less visible as tou are approaching your fishing spot, also try keep rour shadow behind you or to your side, not on the water where you intend to fish.

When fishing for trout you should use light gear because of the trout seeing so well, they will see line 6 pounds or hevier i fairly clear water. I use an ultra light setup and 90 percent of the time ill use fly fishing gear with 4 pound line as a leader.

You should also consider the correct time to fish for trout, they are a fish thet generaly likes the cold, so fish for them in the mornings early and again in the evenings when its cooling down again. On cool days you might find they are more active throughout the day.

These trout fishing tips will help you catch more and bigger trout, they will help anyone be a better trout fisherman. Go out and try these trout fishing tips next time you are out and let me know how you get on. Come back here and leave me a comment, ask me a question and i will try to awnser if i can. Enjoy your trout fishing and i hope these tips work for you.

Trout Fishing Tips - What Depth to fish at?

Posted by admin on April 3rd, 2009 and filed under trout fishing tips | 1 Comment »

Time for some more trout fishing tips, and im going to talk a bit about depth and how to find what depth the trout are holding.

Finding the correct depth to fish a bait for trout can be tricky. However i’ll give you my trout fishing tips that i use to find the depth they are feeding at. First of all, trout like cooler water so they will always find the water that is comfortable to them (50 to 68 degrees farenheight). they also tend to be where there is plenty of oxygen in the water and a supply of food.
So in mid summer, if you want to catch trout, you need to fish deep. But how deep, this can be be tricky, and often frustrating!

Always keep an eye out for these in a body of water and you will then know where to fish. Often you will see signs of where to fish, from seeing the fish or where insects are more noticable. Other times it’l be very hard to see where the fish are, then start with the most likely looking place will be. Often on the windward side of a lake you will find trout because the water will be oxygenated from the wind and a trouts food will be acumulated there. The dam wall of lakes are always a good bet too. Now to actualy find  how deep the trout are lying would be easy with a fish finder, but what if you dont have one, here is what i do to find their depth.

The only way is to experiment until you find where they are, fish your bait on the botton for a while and if you get no bites lift your bait a bit by reeling in a foot or two. Wait a bit again and repeat untill you find where they are. If this doesnt get you anything then it might be time to go elsewhere.

I hope these trout fishing tips will help you catch more trout and make your fishing trips more enjoyable.
